Management Appointment - Operations
28 April 2011
TO OUR VALUED SUPPLIERS AND CUSTOMERS
MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT - OPERATIONS
At AAL, we have embarked on a major tonnage upgrade programme to support our position as a leading multi-purpose liner service provider in the Asia - Australia trade, servicing the breakbulk/heavy-lift/project cargo market. The first units of our fleet of newbuildings comprising 10 x 31,000 DWT plus 4 x 19,000 DWT MPP/heavy-lift vessels have now been delivered by the respective shipyards and introduced to the AAL liner services (“AAL Brisbane” and “AAL Fremantle”).
This tonnage upgrade is in line with our commitment to provide the highest level of service by developing our cargo handling capabilities and by focusing on continuous improvement in our operational performance. To this end, I am pleased to advise you of the appointment of Mr Bernard Huizenga to the newly created position of General Manager – Operations. Commencing on 10th May 2011 and based in our Brisbane office, Bernard will assume overall responsibility for our operational activities and supplier relationships. Bernard brings with him a wealth of experience, skill and know-how to the role: with a seafaring background followed by a career in various operational positions in Europe and Africa, Bernard has been working in the Australasian region for the past 15 years. In senior management roles at Tasman Orient Line and Swire Shipping, Bernard has successfully managed a number of breakbulk/multipurpose liner shipping services and gained an in-depth knowledge of the specific dynamics within the Asia-Pacific trading region.
In welcoming Bernard onboard, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your past and ongoing support, and look forward to continue and strengthen our working relationship.
Yours sincerely,
AUSTRAL ASIA LINE PTE LTD
